Description / Iowa Heliotrope
One whiff of these blooms will tell you why the old folks call blue-flowered Heliotrope "Cherry Pie"! This tender perennial (grown as an annual everywhere, or brought in for use as a winter houseplant) sets masses of sweet-scented, beautiful royal blue blooms all summer long. You will adore how it transforms garden and patio into a fragrant paradise every time the breeze blows!
Iowa is a classic name in Heliotrope, known for its versatility in garden and container. If allowed, it can reach 2 to 3 feet high and wide, but for most of us south of zones 9-11, it stays more like 10 to 15 inches in flowerpots, planters, and windowboxes! A nice size for a wide variety of uses, it is compact and very free-flowering.
Densely branched with dark green foliage that often sports purple accents, Iowa is a splendid addition to any sunny to partly shaded setting. Make it part of your landscape this season!
