Utah Planting Zones & Schedule

Utah’s USDA growing zones range from Zone 4 to Zone 9, depending on where you are in the state. High elevation areas, particularly in the northern part of the state, fall in Zones 4a to 5b where you can grow cold-hardy plants like blueberries, broccoli, and root vegetables.

The rest of Utah ranges from Zone 6a to 9a, depending on elevation. These zones are suitable for cool-season vegetables as well as some warm-season crops like tomatoes and peppers.

  • *Keep in mind that frost can occur before or after these dates. Watch your local weather to determine the best time to plant.

  • The growing season in Utah ranges from about 90 days in high-elevation areas up to 150 days in warmer climates. Refer to the planting schedules below to determine the best timing for your zone.
