Description / Autumn Bee Attraction Hybrid Allium Seeds
Allium Autumn Bee Attraction, an F1 hybrid, is an edible ornamental perennial plant that's both beautiful and delicious. An unusual allium, it sets flowers within the first year of sowing and sets flowers in both spring and fall by the second year. Borne on filled, sturdy stems, the attractive rounded flowerheads are full of tiny white blooms that sustain bumble bees and butterflies at a time of year when many other pollinator-friendly plants have passed their prime. Allium Autumn Bee Attraction sets a relatively large number of long-lasting flowers, so there's plenty for adding to a cut flower arrangement, or two. And the small, tender leaves are edible. They have a mild garlicky flavor and can be used fresh or for cooking.
An Allium interspecific hybrida, commonly called fat leaf allium, Autumn Bee Attraction has an upright habit of flattened grass-like leaves. It is a great accent or container plant, but it's shown to best effect when grouped or massed in borders, beds, and open fields. The plant is a natural for a perennial garden, cutting garden, or rock garden, but it's an absolute must for a pollinator garden or habitat garden.
Extremely easy to grow, allium grows best in sunny locations with average, moist, well-draining soil having a slightly acidic 5.8 to 6.5 pH. The plant is frost resistant and can survive dry circumstances.
