Description / Golden Reishi Mushroom
These mushrooms are Certified Organic, GLOBAL G.A.P, USDA Organic, Certified South Carolina, and Certified Appalachian Grown™ products.
Known as the "Mushroom of Immortality," or Ling-Chi, used for thousands of years in Chinese medicine, reishi mushrooms have gained quite a reputation as medicinal mushrooms. Although these mushrooms are beautifully lacquered with brilliant yellow new growth and white tips, they are corky textured and bitter flavored, so they are best dried fresh and ground in a blender to be used in healthful extracts. Making an extract is easy. Check out the simple instructions below to learn how.
Reishi mushrooms are slow growing polypores, meaning they have no gills and produce their spores inside elongated tubes inside the caps.
Indoors, a fruiting kit is the easiest way to fruit mushrooms. This 5 lb. bag of mushroom growing media is colonized by the reishi mushroom that is ready to fruit. It will produce multiple clusters, or coral like structures inside of the bag several times. They actually prefer to grow and develop inside the bag for most of the time. All you must do is spray them with water, and in just a few weeks, you will have fruiting mushrooms. Reishi also grows easily indoors on sterilized sawdust, fruiting in 14-21 days.
Outdoors, this mushroom grows on fresh sawdust and hardwood logs, half buried is the best: oak, cherry, elm, maple, sycamore, beech, plum, peach, and mimosa, but it can adapt to other hardwoods.
Some mushrooms are poisonous, so it's always important to know your mushrooms. An easy way to identify any mushroom is by creating a spore print, so we have provided instructions below.
Full instructions are included. ***Please note that YOUR KIT MAY REQUIRE IMMEDIATE CARE UPON ARRIVAL. As soon as you receive your kit, open it immediately and read the instructions carefully for any urgent care that may be required.
