Description / 'The Seven Dwarfs' Mix Dwarf Larkspur Seeds
Days to Maturity: 77 to 84
The varieties in 'The Seven Dwarfs' Mix Dwarf Larkspur are hardy, cool weather annuals offering summer interest. This blend of dwarf larkspurs flowers in densely packed spires of pink, mauve, rose, purple, grey, white, and shades of blue blooms. Borne in spike-like racemes, the flowers attract bees, bumblebees, and butterflies and make excellent cut flowers for fresh and dried arrangements.
The 'The Seven Dwarfs' Mix Dwarf Larkspur varieties have a compact habit of deeply cut almost ferny leaves and a fast rate of growth. Shown to best effect planted in drifts or groups in borders and containers.
Easily grown from seed, good for beginners, larkspurs prefer full sun and loose, moderately rich, consistently moist, well-drained soil. The plants are generally pest and disease free. Although larkspurs are low maintenance, deadheading spent flowers prolongs bloom and discourages unwanted self-seeding.
In northern climates, direct sow larkspur seed in the garden 2 weeks before the last frost date in spring, or start seed indoors 8 to 10 weeks prior to last frost and transplant into the garden after all threat of frost has passed. In southern climates, sow seed outdoors in fall.
