Description / 'Graceful Beauty' Ornamental Onion Bulbs
Pack of 5 Bulbs
The perfect Allium to place before its larger cousins or as a cover-up for leggy plants, 'Graceful Beauty' Ornamental Onion reaches just about a foot high but sports merry 3-inch globes of white, marked with soft lavender anthers and stamens. The effect is of a merry polka-dotted confection, and these blooms last and last in garden or vase. Easy to grow, they're a must-have for the bulb garden.
The blooms on 'Graceful Beauty' Ornamental Onion are perfectly rounded, covered in star-shaped florets, and ideal for fresh or dried use. They appear in late spring and early summer on very thick, substantial stems that withstand wind and rain nicely in the garden. 'Graceful Beauty' Ornamental Onion reaches 12 to 16 inches in full bloom, and you can cut the stem right at the base for a long-stemmed flower as elegant as (and much longer-lasting than) a rose.
No plant is easier to grow than Allium, and it will naturalize over time where it is happy. Deer and other nibbling creatures tend to leave it alone, but hummingbirds pay their full respects.
Give 'Graceful Beauty' Ornamental Onion full sunshine in all but the warmest climates, where it appreciates relief from the afternoon sun. It sets strap-shaped leaves at the base of the plant, well below the blooms, and dies back after blooming. Tidy and low maintenance, it's perfect for any setting from the border to the side of garden paths, the foundation, and even along the baking-hot driveway.
'Graceful Beauty', its soft play of color the perfect complement to brighter, darker blooms in the garden. Pair it with its taller cousins or with roses and peonies. It blooms at the height of the flowering season in the garden, so its companions are myriad.
