An F1 hybrid, Rainbow Candy Crush Kale is an eye-catching edible ornamental kale that's both beautiful and deliciousperfect for an edible landscape. Compact and very leafy, each head weighs up to 6.5 pounds and has bright green edges and a bold hot pink and purple center, which gets more intense during cool nighttime temperatures. The wavy-edged leaves have a succulent, mildly sweet flavor when cooked or raw and are very thin and less fibrous than most other kales, which makes them an excellent choice for salads, slaws, kale chips, and for adding to smoothies. Kale is considered a superfood for its nutrient rich content.
Rainbow Candy Crush Kale is a member of the cabbage and mustard family (Brassicaceae or Cruciferae), commonly called crucifers, brassicas, or cole crops. Rainbow Candy Crush has an upright, mounding habit and forms a nice, rounded bush when mature. Its small size is suitable for small space gardening and containers.
Easy to grow from seed, kale grows best in sunny locations with standard, moist, well-draining soil. High fertilization levels result in bigger plants with more intense green color; low fertilization levels reduce plant size and increase pink and purple color.
