Description / Rhaphiolepsis Redbird™
Redbird™ is an flowering evergreen shrub offering year-round interest. White flower clusters blanket the bush in spring, blushing pink as they mature, followed by bright red-tipped new foliage that ages deep green. New foliage will have the best red color when planted in full sun.
With an upright, compact growth habit and moderate growth rate, this Indian hawthorn is an excellent low maintenance choice for massing in a hedge, border, or foundation planting in a sunny spot. It is a great addition to a mixed bed with companion plants, such as ceanothus, liriope, rosemary, cotoneaster, and loropetalum. Salt tolerant, it stands up against briny breezes in coastal areas.
