Description / Winter Gem
Winter is a hard season for garden, particularly if most of your colorful blooms don't open until Spring. That's why we adore Winter Gem! Its striking red buds open into pristine white honey-scented flowers in winter and are the first hints of life in early spring landscapes.
These abundant, fragrant blooms open in clusters which are further enhanced by this shrub's large glossy leaves. The charming blooms and attractive foliage alone make it a star in the landscape, but adding even more interest are its berries which start off red but soon mature to shiny black.
Not only is this plant pleasing to the eyes and nose, but it is quite hardy and disease tolerant as well. Plant Winter Gem in partial shade in rich soil that is well drained and watch it flourish in your yard.
