Description / 'Sorbet 'Peony
Note: Fall shipping for all Peony will be early-mid October.
Cut-flower lovers, rejoice! Sorbet Peony is one of the most beautiful peonies of all, with double blooms that combine soft shades of pink with cream and white accents. The flower form is exquisite, and the blooms last a long time in the garden or the vase. You must try Sorbet to believe its free-flowering, carefree beauty!
Fully 5 inches wide and nearly as high, these flowers offer wide pink "guard" petals in a nice skirt along the bottom, topped with a frilly mass of pink, cream, and white shorter petals. Such a unique confection. The blooms begin in late spring in most climates, and if cut young and kept in a cool room with fresh water, they will last for several weeks.
Sorbet Peony is a compact peony, tall, with 3 distinct layers of pastel color. Ideal for cutting (they are very long-lasting), they 3 feet tall and 2½ feet wide, with excellent branching and heavy budding. Sorbet Peony stands up to rough weather beautifully, making it a great choice for the border and woodland settings. In most climates it loves full sun, but in the south and west, it appreciates a bit of afternoon shade.
Peonies are magnificent additions to any garden. Exceptionally hardy, they are easy to start and simply carefree once established in your garden. And they outlive just about every other perenniala single plant can last for generations. Rabbits and deer leave them alone, and they are untroubled by most diseases and pests. You will love them in the cutting garden and just about anywhere else you want some long-lived color.
