'Purple Magic' is a stunning large-flowering gladiolus that adds depth and drama to summer gardens. Standing 24 to 36 inches tall, its elegant flower spikes are adorned with rich purple blooms that evoke a sense of mystique. Nectar- and pollen-rich, these flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, making them a perfect addition to pollinator-friendly gardens. A Gladiolus x hortulanus variety, also known as gladiolus, sword lilies, or glads, 'Purple Magic' is a tender perennial in Zones 7-10. For the most striking displays, plant bulbs in groups or masses in beds, borders, or containers. Taller plants may need staking in breezy locations to keep the spikes upright and stable.
'Purple Magic' gladiolus is easy to grow, thriving in sunny to lightly shaded areas with well-draining, nutrient-rich soil. If your soil is sandy or clay-heavy, amend it with organic materials like bark or peat moss to improve its texture and moisture retention.
