Description / Vitis Reliance Red Seedless Grape
Vitis Reliance Red Seedless Grape is a deciduous grapevine that is not only a productive addition to your garden but also adds an aesthetic appeal with its vibrant fruit and foliage. In mid to late spring, it is adorned with tiny yellowish-green flowers that transition into large, drooping clusters of round red fruit, ready to be harvested from early summer to early fall. The seedless grapes are firm, boasting a tender skin and flesh with a sweet labrusca flavor. Perfect for fresh or dried (raisins) consumption, juicing, or for jams and jellies.
Reliance Red Seedless Grape is a vigorous climber, known for its superior cold hardiness among seedless varieties. In its first year, let the grapevine grow freely. By the second or third year, it should staked after being heavily pruned, leaving only 2 or 3 buds on the strongest stem. Regular pruning and spraying will enhance fruit production. This grapevine can be cultivated on a wire trellis, espaliered on a courtyard wall, or trained on an arbor, pergola, or fence, creating a captivating feature in your garden.
For optimal growth, plant grapevines in sunny spots with deep, medium moist, well-drained soil. However, they are adaptable to a wide range of soil types, thriving especially well in clays and loams enriched with organic matter, provided they have good drainage. A location sheltered from winter winds, shallow cultivation, and mulching will be beneficial. The Reliance vine is self-fertile, producing fruit without the need for pollen from other varieties.
Reliance is from the University of Arkansas.
Grapes ship as 1-year-old plants.
