Description / Carex EverColor® Everest Sedge
It's the perfect way to dress up the border, bed, and foundation, not to mention all your shade containersa cascading, fountainous ornamental grass with long, slender white-edged green leaves. Everest adds bright color to the shade, grows easily, and tolerates rough conditions from drought to poor soil. It's an all-purpose edging, ground cover, and accent planting you'll love.
Everest is part of the EverColor® series of variegated Sedges from Irish breeder Patrick Fitzgerald. It is a sport of Evergold, the popular green-and-gold variety. But instead of a central gold stripe, Everest wows with two slim white edges outlining every olive-green leaf. And it's far more vigorous and resilient than Evergoldan all-around improvement.
Everest reaches about 18 inches high and spreads a foot wide, forming a neat, naturally symmetrical fountain of arching foliage in partial shade. Once established, it doesn't mind periods of drought or soil that remains on the dry side. Infertile and unworked soils are no issue, either. So easy for the busy gardener.
The perfect groundcover, Everest also makes a uniform and attractive edging for beds and borders. It really dresses up the front of foundation plantings, and complements all blooming and foliage plants in containers of all types. Versatility is its watchword, and you'll love finding new ways to show off its beauty. Add it to your garden this season.
