Description / Inca II™ Deep Orange Hybrid Marigold Seeds
Days to Maturity: 98
Inca II™ Deep Orange Marigold is an annual offering summer through fall interest, blooming up to the first frost. Whether long or short days, Inca II Deep Orange delivers, blooming a week to 10 days earlier than original Inca varieties. The cheery, 3- to 4-inch, deep orange, fully double, pompom blooms are borne singly or in clusters on strong, stocky stems. The flowers last a long time in the garden or vase and can be dried for everlasting arrangements.
A Tagetes erecta, commonly called African marigold, Aztec marigold, American marigold, or big marigold, Inca II Deep Orange is an intermediate-sized, well-branched plant with an upright habit. Shown to best effect when mass planted, Inca II Deep Orange is perfect for landscapes, beds, and borders and makes a great filler for container gardens and large plantings.
Easy to grow and low maintenance, marigold grows best in sunny locations with average, evenly moist, well-draining soil. It holds up to rain and is high heat and drought tolerant, generally pest and disease free, and deer resistant. Deadheading is not required but removing spent blooms regularly encourages and prolongs flowering, and pinching off the tops of established plants results in bushier plants with a heavier bloom.
Direct sow marigold seed after the last frost as soon as the soil is warm in spring or start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost and transplant after all threat of frost has passed.
If you plan to start your seeds indoors, be sure to check out our Bio Dome Seed Starter Kit. With the Bio Dome, you can control the temperature, light, and soil mix to ensure your seeds become strong for transplant.
