Description / Super Hero™ Yellow Bee Marigold Seeds
Super Hero™ Yellow Bee Marigold Seeds are true annuals offering spring through summer interest. Early flowering, the plant sets an abundance of round, 2-inch, mahogany-colored, fully double blooms with stable yellow patterns. The demure, short-petaled flowers make excellent cuts and attract mainly bees to the garden, seeking their pollen and nectar.
A Tagetes patula variety, commonly called French marigolds or dwarf anemones, Super Hero™ Yellow Bee Marigold has a uniform, compact, mounding habit of bushy, fern-like leaves and a vigorous growth rate. Shown to best effect when massed or grouped, dwarf anemones are perfect for beds, borders, and containers. They quickly create level swaths of brilliant color wherever they are planted. Best known for repelling insects in the garden, French marigolds are often grown alongside perennials and vegetables, as they repel whiteflies and kill bad nematodes.
Easy to grow, these marigolds prefer full sun and average, evenly moist, well-drained soil. They are high heat and frost tolerant, generally pest and disease free, and deer resistant. Although marigolds are low maintenance plants, pinching off the tops of established plants results in bushier plants with a heavier bloom and deadheading regularly encourages and prolongs flowering.
Direct sow marigold seed after the last frost and as soon as the soil is warm in spring or start seeds indoors 4 to 5 weeks before the last frost and transplant after all threat of frost has passed when day temperatures are consistently in the 65 to 68°F range and night temperatures are consistently in the 60 to 65°F range.
If you plan to start your seeds indoors, be sure to check out our Bio Dome Seed Starter Kit. With the Bio Dome, you can control the temperature, light, and soil mix to ensure your seeds become strong for transplant.
