Narcissus Tahiti is an extraordinary daffodil variety, recognized with numerous prestigious awards. Introduced in 1956 by Lionel Richardson, this timeless daffodil continues to captivate gardeners with its stunning, petal-packed blooms that add a tropical flair to spring gardens.

When planted in the fall, Narcissus Tahiti bulbs begin their dazzling display in early to mid-spring, rising to a height of 12 to 16 inches. The flowers are truly spectacular, featuring large, fully double blooms that measure up to 4 ½ inches across. Each flower boasts whorls of bright yellow petals, accented by vibrant red-orange segments at the center, creating a striking contrast that sets the garden aglow. These long-lasting blooms are borne in clusters on long, slender stems, making them ideal for cutting and adding to spring bouquets.

This classic variety is not only beloved for its beauty but also for its resilience and ease of growth. As a member of the Narcissus family, commonly known as daffodils, Tahiti has an upright growth habit and a fast growth rate. It multiplies and naturalizes easily, forming sprawling clumps of long, flat, strap-like leaves and showy blooms that return year after year. In ideal conditions, ample space, sunlight, water, and fertilizer, these daffodils can thrive for decades, providing reliable color and cheer to your garden.

Tahiti daffodils are incredibly versatile and can be planted in groups or masses for a dramatic effect in mixed beds, borders, and containers. They are especially effective when planted in large sweeping drifts across open woodland areas, under deciduous trees, or in smaller groupings in front of shrubs. These daffodils mix beautifully with ground covers and other spring-blooming bulbs, creating a layered and dynamic garden display. Additionally, they can be forced indoors, bringing their tropical-inspired beauty into your home during the winter months.

Cold-hardy to USDA Zone 3, Narcissus Tahiti is virtually foolproof, making it an excellent choice for gardeners of all levels. These daffodils prefer areas with cool winters and warm, dry summers, but they adapt well to a wide range of climates as long as there is a discernible winter. For optimal growth, plant the bulbs in sunny to partly shady locations with rich, fertile, well-draining soil that has a neutral to acidic pH.

When planting, space the bulbs 8 inches apart and plant them 6 inches deep. Water the daffodils during their growth period, but avoid overwatering, as bulbs do not tolerate soggy conditions. To encourage robust flowering, feed the bulbs with a balanced fertilizer, such as Espoma Organic® Bulb-tone® Bulb and Flower Food, as soon as growth begins in the spring. After the flowers bloom, allow the foliage to die back naturally. The leaves continue to absorb nutrients that are stored in the bulbs, ensuring strong growth and blooming in the following season.

Relatively pest-free and deer-resistant, Narcissus Tahiti is a low-maintenance, high-impact addition to any garden. Whether you're planting them in beds, borders, containers, or using them to brighten up indoor spaces, these award-winning daffodils deliver unmatched beauty and reliability year after year.
