Description / Astilbe 'White Gloria'
A popular choice for shady areas, 'White Gloria' is really quite glorious in early summer with its substantial, pyramidal-shaped, white plumes sitting atop glossy dark green foliage. The plumes make excellent fresh cut flowers or everlasting arrangements, and the plume seed heads can be left on for winter interest.
This hardy perennial, also known as false spirea or goats beard, is at its best in dappled shade and moist soilperfect for waterside and wet woodlands. The plant is low maintenance, heavy shade tolerant, and deer and rabbit resistant.
Shown to best effect when grouped, the plant will also spread by rhizomes and can be divided every 2 to 4 years. Combining with astilbe varieties that bloom at different times and in different colors keeps a colorful display going throughout the season.
