Description / Leucanthemum 'Real Dream'
Real Dream is a dwarf Shasta Daisy with classic yellow blooms and an exceptionally healthy body. The semi-double, delicately ruffled petals emerge from a golden center a lime green and fade to a creamy white over time. Real Dream is a charming addition to any bed, border or container. This variety is super-floriferous and long-blooming. The flowers can last 2 weeks or more in the vase, offering you a long season of beautiful arrangements!
The bloom season begins in late spring to early summer, continues through summer, and even trickles into autumn if you deadhead the flowers to encourage new blooms. That's an incredible span for any plant, and much longer than most Shastas! Butterflies dance upon Real Dream throughout it all, adding further bright color to the display.
This UK introduction was bred to have a tight clumping habit and good resistance to heat, humidity, drought, and disease. This vigorous little bloomer will go strong season after season, especially in the South.
Real Dream reaches about 18 inches high and 15 inches wide on strong stems, with dense branching and mid to dark-green, ovate foliage held below the blooms. Healthy and far more disease-resistant than older varieties, this perennial asks little more than direct sun and fertile, well-drained garden soil to thrive and multiply over time in the garden. And since Real Dream tends to be avoided by deer, it will live on to beautify your garden year after year. Deadheading is recommended. Real Dream is hardy to -20°F. Zones 5 to 9.
