Description / Buxus NewGen Freedom® Boxwood
A Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Shrub vareity, NewGen Freedom® Boxwood combines rich dark green foliage with a dense rounded habit that provides dependable structure throughout the year. Its fine textured evergreen leaves maintain their attractive appearance across the seasons, making this larger growing selection an excellent choice for formal gardens, foundation plantings, and landscape designs that benefit from consistent color and form.
Developed as part of the NewGen® collection, NewGen Freedom® offers improved resistance to boxwood blight, boxwood leafminer, and boxwood psyllid. Gardeners can enjoy the classic look of boxwood with reduced concern about some of the most common boxwood challenges. Slightly larger than NewGen Independence®, it is ideal where a fuller, more substantial boxwood presence is desired. Its naturally attractive shape requires minimal pruning to maintain a polished appearance.
Hardy in Zones 5 to 9, NewGen Freedom® thrives in part sun to sun and adapts well to average well drained soils, including clay. Plants mature to approximately 3 to 4 feet tall and wide, creating a versatile evergreen shrub suitable for hedges, borders, containers, topiary, and mass plantings.
