Description / Sheer Magic Hybrid Tea Rose
From award-winning parents, Sheer Elegance and Color Magic, comes a breathtaking hybrid tea rose, Sheer Magic. Its pointed, ovoid, coral-colored buds spiral open gracefully to display perfectly formed, high-centered, 4-inch, cream-colored blooms infused with a rare, deep coral blush. The brighter the sunlight, the more dramatic the color contrast. With thick petals (26 to 40 of them), a light spicy fragrance, and long stems, this captivating rose is magical in bouquets, too. They will appear in flushes throughout their early summer to late summer season. Remove spent blossoms to encourage rebloom.
The lush, glossy, dark green, blackspot-resistant foliage is an added bonus. With a mature size of about 5 feet and width of about 3 feet, Sheer Magic™ has a nice, compact, rounded, and well-branched habit that makes it an excellent choice even for smaller garden spaces or patio containers. It performs best in medium-moisture, slightly acidic, well-drained loam in full sun.
It should be pruned in the spring, to half height or 18-20 inches above the ground, with the removal of old canes and dead wood. Cut back canes that cross each other. Gardeners in warmer climates will want to cut the remaining canes by one-third, while those in colder climates will probably need to trim it a bit more.
NOTE: Tree and patio roses are hardy to Zone 6 regardless of the rose variety grafted to their tops.
