Description / Tulipa Big Love Tulip Bulbs
Plant Big Love tulip bulbs in early to mid-fall and enjoy a breathtaking display of bright true pink flowers in mid to late spring. This spring ephemeral showcases its blooms atop a basal rosette of elegant long leaves. Each flower, borne singly on strong, stately stems that rise 18 to 22 inches tall, features a graceful pyramidal goblet shape and a posh pure pink color. The long-lasting blooms make them ideal cut flowers for spring bouquets or mixed floral arrangements. In the garden, they attract pollinators, particularly early emerging bees.
Big Love, a Darwin hybrid tulip, has an upright habit and is among the best tulips for naturalizing, often reappearing year after year under ideal conditions. Best planted in groups, tulips serve as excellent ground cover, particularly useful for erosion control during spring rains. Their colorful flowers complement other spring-blooming bulbs, creating stunning displays whether planted in large sweeping drifts in open woodland areas or in smaller groupings in beds, borders, and along walkways. Tulips also thrive as container plants and can be forced for cheery indoor blooms in winter.
Big Love tulips are cold hardy to Zone 3 and are easy to grow in sunny spots with average, well-drained soil. They tolerate a range of soil types, including clay, loamy, sandy, and acidic soils. As the blooms fade, remove them promptly by cutting the stem to 1 inch below the flower. Allow the foliage to continue to grow and gather energy for next season's flowers, only pruning out the leaves after they die back naturally, turn yellow, and droop to the ground.
Bring a touch of vibrant pink to your garden with Big Love tulips and enjoy their classic beauty and robust performance year after year.
