Description / Passiflora 'Nancy Garrison' Passion Fruit
An exotic beauty, Passiflora 'Nancy Garrison' Passion Fruit is a perennial fruit-bearing vine, also known as the passion vine. This unique plant is a summer spectacle, boasting a profusion of striking white blooms with a green heart and long white tendrils that are deep purple at the base. These nectar-rich flowers emanate a subtle fragrance, making them irresistible to pollinators like bees and butterflies. Following the bloom, the vine produces charming round fruits with a purple skin that ripen from late summer into fall. The aromatic, bright orange pulp consists of small seeds encased in a juicy sac, which can be enjoyed fresh or used to add a tropical twist to beverages, jams, and desserts.
As a variety of Passiflora edulis, typically called purple passion fruit, 'Nancy Garrison' showcases robust growth, reaching a towering 10 to 20 feet when fully mature. This vine is a perennial performer, flowering and fruiting consistently under the right conditions. In colder regions, it exhibits resilience by regrowing in the spring after winter die-back. It's an excellent specimen that will enhance a trellis, arbor, or fence.
While 'Nancy Garrison' thrives in warmer climates, it's surprisingly cold hardy for a passion vine, capable of withstanding temperatures as low as 22°F. It flourishes in sunny spots with fertile, moist, well-drained soil. This self-fertile vine doesn't require pollen from other varieties to bear fruit, making it a convenient choice.
This passion fruit vine will ship at the appropriate planting time based on your growing zone. This passion fruit vine does not ship in December or January. Plant height is 18-24" when shipped.
