South Carolina Planting Zones & Schedule
South Carolina’s USDA growing zones range from Zone 7b to Zone 9b, depending on where you are in the state. Most of the state falls in Zone 8, which is ideally suited to cool-season crops like broccoli and kale as well as heat-loving summer crops like sweet potatoes and okra.
The northwestern part of South Carolina is in Zone 7b or 8a while the coastline falls in Zones 9a and 9b. Coastal areas may be best suited to salt-tolerant crops like onions, beets, and lettuce.
