Description / Ambrosia Sweet Corn Seeds

75 days. Named for its delectable taste, Ambrosia is as beautiful to see as it is to eat. The 8-inch-long ears are bursting with about 16 rows of jam-packed kernels in a checkerboard pattern of white and yellow. Measuring 2 inches across, the ears are large and very full -- the kernels are plump, juicy, and savory-sweet. Plants grow 6 1/2 feet tall, reaching their height earlier in the season than most. Good tolerance of Stewart's Wilt.

Sugar-enhanced corn is creamier and more tender than Super Sweet, with stronger old-fashioned corn flavor, yet is sweeter than regular Sweet hybrids. This delicious variety retains its sweetness for up to 10 days after harvest. No isolation from other corn is necessary, and germination is easier than with Super Sweets.

Sow after last spring frost, when the soil is warm. Corn is famously easy to direct-sow in any sunny spot. To extend your corn harvest, make successive plantings weekly up to mid-July, or plant varieties with differing maturity dates. Pkt is 200 seeds. Corn seed in packet sizes of 1 lb. or smaller is now available for shipment to Canada.

I’ve grown this for two years in a row now and it’s be a crowd pleasure. Very sweet and one of my favorites. Ears at about average size and have a very tight top which requires minimum spraying to avoid worms. Certainly one of my favorite Lenin not my favorite variety.

Ambrosia Corn is the only corn I plant now. It is sweet and crisp even after freezing. I just wish it came in pound packages instead of ounces. A friend of my granddaughters ate some at our house one day and told her mom when she got home that she really needed to get my corn recipe. I told her when she asked for it, that it was the type of corn and not the recipe that was so good -Corn, butter and salt!!!

All around great corn 0 people found this helpful

Grew this in sand (where grass won't even grow) with little fertilizer. Stalks only reached maybe 5ft, some smaller, but still produced amazingly tasting corn. No bugs, no fungus, no problems. This will be my choice every year from now on.

I have been planting Ambrosia corn for over 20 years with good results. This year however, I had a 30% germination rate.

We have been using this delicious corn for many, many years. We love to share it with others and always hear "That's the best corn we've ever tasted". It freezes very well. Ambrosia is the only corn we plant.

5 star corn for sure! 0 people found this helpful

Simply put, this is the best tasting corn I've ever eaten. I had always been devoted to Silver Queen until I grew Ambrosia at the urging of a farmer friend. I'm soooooo glad that I took my friend's advice. Wow! One bite of Ambrosia and I feel as those I've died and gone to heaven. I urge everybody to give Ambrosia a trial in their gardens. You will thank me later. :)

Delicious corn! 0 people found this helpful

Have always planted silver queen and 2 years ago planted Ambrosia and Silver Queen. The Ambrosia was much sweeter...It freezes well and stays sweet throughout the winter (I cut kernels from the cob before freezing and my rule of thumb is 2 cobs of cut kernels is about 1 cup of corn). This year I will only plant Ambrosia...
