Days to Maturity: 77 direct sow

All-America Selections (AAS) Winner 2018

A bicolor super sweet with superior germination, earlier harvest, and a tender bite, this corn is the absolute finest for home gardens. It offers good tip fill on delectable cobs.

American Dream is a vigorous plant reaching 6 to 7 feet tall. It bears generously, bringing you big harvests days earlier than most others.

Super sweet corn is specially bred to contain twice the sugar of regular sweet corn, and these hybrids retain their flavor and tenderness up to 2 weeks longer than regular sweets. They require warm soil for good germination, and must be isolated from other corn varieties by 200 feet or at least 2 weeks' planting time.

Sow after last spring frost, when the soil is warm. Corn is famously easy to direct-sow in any sunny spot. To extend your corn harvest, make successive plantings weekly up to mid-July, or plant varieties with differing maturity dates.

Didn’t Grow 0 people found this helpful

Last year I grew some really awesome sweet corn I got from my local garden store. This year I tried growing this corn and it didn’t grow at all. I replanted it 3 times. When it did finally grow it only grew 2 feet tall. I wasted a whole growing season on this.

We purchased a total of 3 packs of your sweet corn and none of it has germinated. We have been planting some every 2 weeks, water it regularly, but the first batch never came up. Will never buy it again.

I’m very disappointed with the germination. I bought a pack of 100. Only about 50 plants came up. I hope the ones that did will have some good corn. I would set some more seed but your all out and from what I can tell you shouldn’t mix up corn if your plan is to save seeds.

I wanted to save money on shipping and it looks like I ruined our summer instead. I bought two packs of 100 seeds each for a total of 200. I planted our first plot in mid May. We planted two seeds per hole and planted all 100 seeds. Most have not come up or they are all different rates of growth if at all. That is the picture with the bigger corn plants. Excuse the weeds but it’s a little hard to tell the weeds from what could possibly be a corn plant. It probably doesn’t matter anyways. How could any corn pollinate in this mess? I know, it could have been an act of nature but I planted a second plot two weeks later, hoping we could still enjoy some corn this summer. Nope. This second plot/picture was planted more than two weeks ago. It’s doing the same exact thing. Once again…I planted two seeds per hole and planted all 100 seeds from the pack in this plot. Feeling ripped off. Never mind. I see there is no way to post photos. I’d say about 25% of the seeds germinated. And both plots are showing different sized plants. One inch tall to ten inches tall. We are not stupid people. This is our third year growing corn.

Made a nice crop for me 1 people found this helpful

I put in three plots in 2018. I was very satisfied with the germination rate, which was better than 95% for all plots. I didn't spray it, so there were some worms, but hey. It cropped over two weeks, when the next plot was ready, and actually, we kept eating, freezing, and sharing for another week to ten days. Even when large, it remained sweet and relatively tender. We we're still eating American Dream into October. I will be growing it again.
