Description / Austrian Crescent Fingerling Potato - 2 Pound Bag
Days to Maturity: 85 to 100 from direct sow
A mid season variety, Austrian Crescent Fingerling Potato is grown as a tuber vegetable. The plant sets long, thin, curved tubers with tan skin and light yellow flesh. These beautiful fingerling potatoes are quite large and have unequaled flavor and culinary qualities. Suitable for boiling, steaming, or roasting, they have a firm, waxy texture after cooking. Potatoes are a good source of vitamin C and also contain folate, niacin, pantothenic acid, thiamin, magnesium, and potassium.
Austrian Crescent Fingerling Potato, an herbaceous annual, is a member of the nightshade or solanaceous family (Solanaceae). The plant has an upright habit and produces high yields of up to 10-inch-long potatoes with good storability. The plant prefers full sun and fertile, cool, well-drained, loose soil. It has moderate scab resistance and is rabbit resistant.
A cool-season vegetable, one of the first to be planted in the garden, "seed" tubers can be direct sown into the garden in early spring before the last frost date. They need cold temperatures to germinate and grow but should be protected from frost with row covers.
