Description / 'Beauregard' Sweet Potato Slips

Days to Maturity: 95 from direct sow

Thanks to its very large yields, this variety developed by Louisiana State University is quickly becoming the gardener's favorite. The potatoes are very uniform, with reddish-purple skin and bright orange flesh. Succulent, tender, and packed with flesh, these are top-quality eating sweet potatoes.

The 'Beauregard' Sweet Potato Slips are resistant to soil rot and white grubs, and offer good protection from cracking.

Easy to grow and nutritious, sweet potatoes also store well. Set these slips 12 to 15 inches apart in 3-foot rows in a sunny, well-drained spot. After harvest, cure the potatoes in a warm (85 degrees Fahrenheit is preferable) location for 2 weeks, then store at 60 degrees Fahrenheit for 6 to 8 weeks.

Sweet potato crop saved by Parks 0 people found this helpful

I was able to buy plants in my area due to some kind of blight in NC where the buyer get there plants. I found these slips on Parks seed Co. Online and was thrilled I could get them ,I thought I wasn't going to be able to get any plants this year. They were shipped just in time to plant although they were a bit pricey. I don't usually spend that much on my slips locally. I planted the plants right away after recieving them and they took off right away and are growing great. Thank you Parks!

  3. Quality is the best! 0 people found this helpful

They always offer the best quality in vegetable seeds. The rest of my garden is filled with specifically heirloom, local or specific veggies that I have a historical liking to. Note: I would "never" get my sweet potatoes anywhere else!

great producer 0 people found this helpful

Last year was my first time to grow sweet potatoes and what a good experience it was! 25 slips produced over 150 lbs of potatoes in poor soil conditions (tight clay). I had several potatoes that weighed in excess of 4 lbs each, and the flavor & texture were great. With better soil preparation, I am expecting a 200 + lb crop this year. We also enjoy eating the tender leaves prepared like spinach.
