Still Love These! 1 people found this helpful

    Rating

This is my fourth year growing these as opposed to the IncaII or Whopper. Love these the best as the gold blooms are big and beautiful as is the bushy green foliage. Will grow three feet tall if you fertilize them like I do! I put them in front of my holly hedges and they are perfect. My only complaints now are that I do have to stake them since I like them to grow as large as possible and the gold is slow to start and will bloom after the orange but once they take off they dwarf all the rest! Will continue to buy again.

Taller than Expected 1 people found this helpful

Bought these last year expecting 10-15 inches. By the end of the season they were over 3 ft tall. They were beautiful but too tall for the front of a bed where I planted them.

Exceptional performance 1 people found this helpful

    Rating

I planted this the first time last year. It was close to perfection. My smaller yard requires smaller compact plants that provide big splashes of color. 'Big Duck' is a hit. Short, compact plants are covered in large blooms all summer. It is a little later starting bloom and a bit taller than the 'Inca' or 'Whopper' series but once started blooming, it is magnificent. I can recommend any of the three series, 'Big Duck', 'Whopper' or 'Inca'.

Best Big Gold Marigold Yet 2 people found this helpful

    Rating

Same gold as Inca II but bushier and more sturdy. Stems of heads can be delicate at first as they will fall over. Pretty thick dark green foliage and long lasting big gold heads! The only complaint is having to dead head them and stake them as mine got at least 18” tall. They do not wilt easily.

Big Duck Gold F1 Marigold-Best Ever 1 people found this helpful

    Rating

This marigold is the best that I have ever grown in my 30 years of gardening. The plants were robust and loaded with large flowers that lasted until the first heavy frost in November. Mine grew to 3 ft. tall and about 2 ft. wide with minimal fertilizer and care.

Super Bright Flowers 2 people found this helpful

    Rating

I've grown Big Duck several times and every season I'm rewarded with tons of bright pom pom like flowers. The flowers look small when the buds first open, but like a magic trick they keep expanding until they are huge. It's really important to space these out. They aren't like regular marigolds that stay small. One marigold can take up an entire 12 inch pot. They create a lot of roots and they choke one another if there is not enough space.

Only 50% germination. 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

Only about 50% of the seeds germinated. I sowed a package of marigold seed left over from 2019 and got about 90% germination and they were just bought in a grocery store in 2019!!

I love these marigolds! 1 people found this helpful

    Rating

I planted these last year with my tomatoes and they were soooooo beautiful! They were low-maintenance and healthy plants with large, gorgeous blooms. I planted them in my Smart Pots out front of the townhouse and had so many flowers I shared frequently with neighbors. I am planting them again this year.

Vibrant 1 people found this helpful

Beautiful, large, and proliferative. The heads were so heavy they would break and fall after a certain size, but continued to grow and look healthy and filled in the gaps of the breaks. Very golden. Recommend.

4.5 stars if I had the option 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

Biggest most vibrant gold marigold that I’ve ever seen! Very bushy. Just gorgeous. I played 200 along the front of my house last year and every time I was in the yard neighbors would compliment them. Only negatives are they are not as pest and animal resistant as the Inca II and the stems need to be stronger to support the blooms in rain and wind.

Not impressed 0 people found this helpful

We grew them in an A AS display garden. Really didn't care for them. Too big! But if you want marigolds at the back guess you might like them.
