Description / Blue Queen Salvia Seeds

Masses of pencil-thin, vibrantly colorful bloomspikes arise on this perennial sage, so densely set that they present a solid wall of color in the border.

The deep blue blooms are richly colorful on dwarf 12-inch plants, blooming in early summer and then repeating their fine show later in the season. A spectacular source of dark, intense color and narrow, vertical form, Blue Queen is one of the finest salvias we know, attracting butterflies to the garden and prompting exclamations and double-takes from visitors.

Direct sow this salvia in midsummer for spring bloom, or begin the seeds indoors in late winter for first-year bloom. Not fussy about soil, it flourishes in blazing sun, tolerating drought and often reblooming.

Excellent plant
Review by Arizona
Bought these last year to grow on our new property in Zone 6b. Started them in pots in the garden then gave to my daughter to put in her flower bed, keeping one for myself for a pot. The flower bed plants have done beautifully! They are wonderful, domed plants with the best dark blue flowers and purple green leaves. They returned this year, even after snow and freezing temps, and are better than last year. The flower bed is on the north side of a pergola and gets afternoon sun. I will be taking seeds if I can and trying more next year. If they don't grow, I know where I can buy seeds!
