Cardinal Climber Vine Seeds

Description / Cardinal Climber Vine Seeds
Brilliant blooms from early summer till frost on this vigorous, giant twining vine. The huge foliage is so elegantly divided--looking for all the world like palm fronds--and it makes a spectacular backdrop for the radiant 1-inch scarlet blooms.
These tubular flowers face up and out from the foliage for a full color show--the perfect accent for gates, poles, and any other structure enabling this 15- to 20-foot vine to twine with unrestrained glory. The foliage is so striking that even when not in bloom, it is a handsome addition to the garden.
Very easy to grow in full sun.
Pkt is 30 seeds.

A very disappointing summer grow. 2 people found this helpfulI hope Park Seed has replaced the puny and sad "Cardinal Climber" they sent me with the actual seeds that they picture. Summer of 2024. I planted them, they sprouted and were just feeble and lacking any of the vigor typically associated with morning glory type plants. While my other morning glories were doing so well these "whatever cardinals" were done and gone by mid-August. I won't be growing these things again. I'll just be content with my ever returning morning glories I've had since 1978.????

Not the described plant 2 people found this helpfulThe "cardinal climber" seeds I received are not the seeds pictured for sale. The flowers are smaller and paler and the foliage is way different. I've grown cardinal climbers for 3 decades. The last 3 years (from 3 different companies) I've received the same lame little imposter seeds. If any one buys these seeds expecting actual cardinal climbers they will be very disappointed! I brought this to the attention of Park but they are still selling them anyway.

Great germination rate. 0 people found this helpfulThese seeds were easy to grow.

Not what I expected 1 people found this helpfulI bought these seeds to plant along my black metal fence that I would use as a trellis. I live in a suburb of Chicago so I started the seeds indoors to get a jump on them since summer starts late here. The seeds germinated quickly and once they were 4"tall I transplanted them outdoors. They took forever to grow, even in all day sun. They finally reached 4 feet tall by October but then it was time to pull out the plants. I fully expected them to reach at least 6ft tall by the end of June to mid July, but they just wouldn't grow and I used my 12 years of gardening experience but ultimately was disappointed. I think this vine would be better off in zone 6 or higher where summer heat starts earlier.

Red Cardinal Climber Vine 1 people found this helpfulGreat vine. Easy to grow if given plenty of sun, rich soil and good moisture. Loved by hummingbirds. Puts on an elegant show loaded with flowers from summer through fall. Fast growing. I have a large hummingbird and butterfly garden. I plant this vine every year especially for hummers.

Did not grow 1 people found this helpfulSowed the seeds properly, soaking them overnight in advance, but they never grew after planting.

Super Invasive 1 people found this helpfulThis vine is pretty but you will never get rid of it. It self seeds and comes up everywhere. I planted it 3 years ago and have been pulling out hundreds of new plants the past 2 years. Hoping I finally got rid of them but I am not optimistic.

1 people found this helpfulI planted this because it said it attracted hummingbirds. I have been more than pleased with its growth and it is truly a hummingbird magnet. The hummingbirds are coming all day. I will continue to plant this every year.

We've always known this as Cyprus Vine. 1 people found this helpfulMy mother grew this on her front porch columns for years back in the 80s. It is a pretty vine but it never grew as tall as this says and the flowers are smaller across than a nickel. I have also grown it and have some planted now, from seeds I saved and some from a neighbor. It reseeds itself very well and can become pesky if you don't transplant the little seedlings. It is very delicate looking and pretty when growing up a support. It is a hard plant to find seeds online so I was surprised to see the ad for these. And the price is fair. They are a very nice red color and the foliage is light and pretty.

Strikingly nice vine with a lot of flowers 1 people found this helpfulI planted these along a wire fence and forgot I planted them. When I saw the vine coming up I wasn't sure if it was a weed but the foliage is nice. When it flowers, it is a really nice vine and it does reseed.
