Best grape tomato 1 people found this helpful

I have planted the celano tomato for several years. It is by far the best grape tomato I have ever planted. It is very fruitful, lasts a very long time without splitting and is very tasty.

I wrote a review last year that was never posted. I don't think these are determinate. This is my second year of growing this variety. They produced fruit last year from June thru October. I'm in Maryland Zone 7B. It's a monster of a plant already approximately 8' tall, started mid-March under grow lights. Sweet grape taste and takes enormous amounts of rain to split.

These are an extremely prolific producer. Probably 100/plant. I grow in trugs and these have been the best for me in my area. Tasty large grapes. Not overly sweet. I’ve had success with Celano over the past few years that I didn’t have with many other varieties. I’ll grow again.

Zone 7B. Started seeds indoors Mar 7. Outside late April under cover. In ground around May 10. Started producing tomatoes in June by the bucket loads. Is still producing tomatoes mid October. Fantastic grape tomato. Not really showing any signs of disease. Few split during excessive rain. No big deal. I grew 2 this year. Both are about 10' tall! I will continue to grow this tomato. FOREVER!

My new favorite! 2 people found this helpful

Celano produced tons upon tons of delicious tomatoes. My first harvest was 78 days after transplant, but I do tend to jump the gun on transplanting by a week or so. The vines and fruit were both prolific; it definitely needs a lot of support. The fruit had the perfect balance of sweet and tart. One plant produced more than the 3 of us could eat. One day I harvested 4 pints from just the one plant! Granted, it was a spectacular tomato weather year here in zone 5b, but I will definitely be growing these again.
