The Celebrity Tomato, a staple among gardeners, epitomizes the ideal tomato plant with its unparalleled disease resistance and robust growth. This determinate variety is a favorite for its ability to produce an abundant crop of smooth, round, and bright red tomatoes, each weighing about 8 ounces. The Celebrity Tomatoes stand out for their uniformity—free from green shoulders and resistant to cracking, presenting a harvest of high-quality fruits that are as visually appealing as they are delicious.

Each Celebrity Tomato is a testament to the plant's adaptability and strength, boasting resistance to common threats like verticillium wilt, Fusarium wilt races 1 and 2, nematodes, and tobacco mosaic virus. This comprehensive disease resistance package makes the Celebrity Tomatoes a wise choice for gardeners seeking to minimize the use of chemical treatments while enjoying a plentiful yield of fresh, tasty tomatoes.

Gardeners looking to grow tomatoes will find the Celebrity Tomato variety to be exceptionally rewarding. Its status as a determinate variety, combined with traits commonly associated with indeterminate tomatoes, such as widespread adaptability and robust disease resistance, makes it a superior choice for cultivating high-quality vegetable seeds into flourishing tomato plants. Whether you're a novice or an experienced gardener, Celebrity Tomatoes offer a fulfilling gardening experience, yielding a bounty of fruits that are perfect for a variety of culinary uses.

Start your Celebrity Tomato plants indoors, sowing seeds 5 to 6 weeks before the last expected frost. Once the risk of frost has passed and night temperatures consistently stay above 55 degrees Fahrenheit, it's safe to plant your Celebrity Tomatoes outdoors, spacing them 2 to 2½ feet apart. In case of an unexpected late frost, protect your young plants to ensure they continue to thrive and produce.

We specialized our tomato growing operation for many years using, an indeterminent variety called Celebrity that was discovered and developed by we believe to have been Craig LeHoullier of Raleigh, North Carolina. The cultivar was lost sometime in the early teens, and the name Celebrity was taken off the market soon to be replaced by a new cultivar named Celebrity Plus. While a good variety, the Plus is not a true indeterminent and the flavor is not as acidic or as meaty as the original. And it is not a volume producer like the original.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Celebrity and Celebrity Plus tomatoes. We appreciate your feedback.

I started these in my greenhouse in Spring 2023 and to this day still producing in winter, sorta spring of 2024. With my heaters in the greenhouse, I have had the pleasure of eating fresh tomatoes. My husband loves and enjoys them. They produce very well if you give them what they need.

Top tomato in the south 0 people found this helpful

We've been growing Celebrity tomatoes commercially since the 80s and now that i'm retired i still do about 2000 plants per year (mostly plasticulture grown), they've proven themselves time and time again. In the southeastern US 'Slocomb Tomatoes' are what everyone asks for, and 99% of those are Celebrity variety. i can normally get one crop from a spring planting, and re-plant again early to mid summer and get another crop before fall, and if you leave the vines after the second crop and mother nature cooperates, i've picked tomatoes all the way thought Christmas.

I grew one of these in a large pot last year and was pleased with it. The taste is very good, and the skin is not too thick.

My favorite determinate tomato. Bushes are easy to handle and need very little staking. Very meaty tomato.

I have been growing Celebrity for several years. It is the best for me because I do a lot of canning and the tomato's are ready about the same time . Comes on in late August and the taste is amazing. Highly recommend!

My new go to hybrid!! 1 people found this helpful

Now i see why i've always wanted to grow this plant! In early May i put out five of these (started indoors) two feet apart with buried fish remains for fertilizer and used heavy three ring cages with six foot stakes. Like a true determinate i had a giant harvest during a two week period in mid July of perfectly round blemish free bright red tomatoes that were big and the taste was excellent even when compared to my heirlooms. After many many tomato sandwiches i was still able to can 20 quarts and gave away a box which made them 8 quarts. Now in late humid August the plants are 4 to 5 feet tall and still very healthy and making a second triple digit wave of tomatoes. This Celebrity seed from Park is fantastic!

PERFECT!! 1 people found this helpful

I've always wanted to grow Celebrity after hearing about them for years. Glad i did these plants are nothing short of amazing with an incredible yield of big red round delicious tomatoes that were all blemish and crack free although alot did have green shoulders. Plants grew to about 4ft and bushy and looked like determinates with most of the fruits coming ripe in about a week of each other. But after the first harvest they've grew another foot flowered and now have another batch of tomatoes up high! Also no diseases and it's August. PERFECT!! Thanks Park!

Super tasty and will produce in the desert 1 people found this helpful

I am growing these next year because the ones I bought at my local farmer's market were so good. I've never had good luck growing slicers or beefsteaks here in the Mohave desert but the farmer's market proves they can be grown here successfully so I'm giving them a try. The main reason why is flavor but disease and pest resistance comes in a very close second with heat tolerance running third.
