Description / Cornus Ivory Halo®
This tatarian dogwood cultivar is a compact, shrubby, deciduous dwarf that brings year-round beauty to the garden. Though vigorous and multi-stemmed, it maintains a tidy growth habit, reaching only about 5 to 6 feet in height and width. Its ovate to elliptic grey-green leaves, edged in creamy white, provide a cool contrast in summer, turning to shades of purplish red in the fall. As winter sets in, the shrub?s vibrant red stems stand out beautifully against snowy landscapes. In late spring, large, flat-topped clusters of tiny white flowers bloom, followed by ornamental berries that are as attractive as they are enticing to birds.
This easy-to-grow dwarf dogwood offers a well-rounded appeal with its compact form, cool-toned summer foliage, seasonal color shifts, winter interest, and a combination of flowers and fruiteverything you could want in a landscape plant. This versatile dwarf dogwood is well-suited for various landscape applications, including mass plantings, borders, and screens. It makes an eye-catching specimen plant and adds interest to mixed beds, where its year-round color and texture can shine.
Though now classified under Cornus sericea as Cornus sericea subsp. sericea, this cultivar is still often referred to as Cornus alba in nurseries.
