Description / Double Zahara™ Raspberry Ripple Zinnia Seeds

Here it is, the bedding zinnia of our dreams (Double Zahara™ Raspberry Ripple Zinnia). The Zahara® series introduced in 2009 immediately became famous for its resistance to mildew and leaf spot, its nonstop blooms, and its larger flower size. Now we're delighted to announce a double-flowered pink variety that sports a dark pink stripe and lighter pink edges on every single petal. Double Zahara™ Raspberry Ripple Zinnia is just waiting to transform your sunny garden into a sea of merry candy tones.

These blooms are fully 2½ inches wide, and there's more of them—they pop up all over super-compact plants, drawing bees and butterflies into the garden and absolutely wowing those hot, dry beds and water-starved containers. Double Zahara™ Raspberry Ripple Zinnias are not really grown for cut flowers, but you'll find yourself picking plenty for bouquets . . . and why not? New flowers will open to replace them double-quick.

Renowned for its ability to withstand heat, humidity, drought, and just about anything else, the Zahara® series is the first bedding zinnia that can truly claim to be disease-resistant. Mildew is a traditional enemy of the zinnia, but Zahara® got it licked. (Or should we say "dried".) Luckily, Double Zahara™ Raspberry Ripple Zinnias are also very long-blooming, prepared to continue well into autumn as long as the hot weather holds. What a joy.

This Double Zahara™ Raspberry Ripple Zinnia is the annual you'll want along that baking-hot driveway or cement path, crowding against the house (the walls reflect heat), and beautifying the patio (which never gets watered often enough). Just 16 to 20 inches high and wide, it can be planted a bit more closely than other bedding zinnias, again thanks to the mildew resistance. No need to worry about the foliage "touching".

Direct sow Double Zahara™ Raspberry Ripple Zinnia Seeds. When the soil has already warmed and spring is well underway, this plant will flower within 9 to 10 weeks of sowing. But if you want to get an earlier start, or if that hot April turns into a chilly May, no fear—Double Zahara™ Raspberry Ripple Zinnia will grow vigorously all the same, and simply wait for the warm weather before blooming. Why can't all plants be this cooperative.

Robust plants 1 people found this helpful

These zinnias were unstoppable. Wish I could upload some photos. They grew 3 feet in diameter by the end of the season. The flowers were variegated, some mostly pink, some striped, some mostly white on the same plant. Flowers were small, but sweet. Most plants were splayed apart in the center because of the weight of the flowers. Had I tied them up during the summer, they would be looking better now.

We have grown these cuties for four years and just love the effect as each bloom transitions as it ages. Vigorous plants loaded with flowers. A bed of these zinnias is eye catching and provides a thick cover for bunny nests!

A real showstopper!! 0 people found this helpful

I do not have much experience with growing from seed but decided to try to give my perennial border a little pop. Direct sowed these in May. They took a while to get going but have been blooming non-stop since July. Great front of border plant. I live the mixture of white and pink in the flowers.

Great Short Zinnias 1 people found this helpful

What a fantastic discovery! Low growing, two inch blooms in profusion on 12 to 14 inch high plants. Disease resistant. Flower readily when direct sown. Raspberry color changes to white as they age giving an ombre effect. Couldn't be more pleased . Non stop blooms since May and it is now mid Aug in zone 7b. Excellent border plant.

I have planted these for the past two years and they do not disappoint. A beautiful combination of pink and white. We live in NJ and with all the 95 to 100 degree heat we have been having, these zinnias did just fine. Going to order more for this year.

This zinnia is a flower like none I have ever seen before! It truly is pink and white striped and looks just like it is shown on the website. What the photo doesn't show is the beauty of it in real life! Exquisite! I want this in my garden every single year, just to look at and be in awe of God's????creation!

None of the seeds came up as the color shown. They were mainly white with some raspberry running through them. They were still beautiful, but not as advertised.

I started these from seed in my greenhouse and they ended up being one of my favorite flowers last summer. With the warmer weather we had, they were still blooming and looking fine all the way thru the end of October. My husband even commented on how nice they looked. Will be planting then again for the 2022 season.

Not Always Pink 0 people found this helpful

This is the first year that I planted this variety. The plants are bushy and covered with flowers. However, the flowers are pink when they first open, but end up fading to white. Three stars because they are not the color I expected.

Used this both in landscape and pots. Doesn't show up very well in landscape but looks very sweet in pots - branching, delicate flowers. Used it with mixed other flowers.

These are beautiful plants, disease resistant, with interesting variations from the pictured plants. They bloom continuously and do not need to be deadheaded. I'm growing them again this year.

sweet zinnia 1 people found this helpful

These are petite flowers that are prettier than the photos. Very ethereal. I've got some in big mixed flower pots and some as bedding flowers. They get a bit lost as bedding flowers - maybe if they were massed in a small setting. In pots they are amazing. The colors of this raspberry variety is gorgeous. I prefer to snip them off when they get more white, but they'd be okay if I didn't.

So many flowers 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

Great plant. Doing great in the central Texas heat and humidity. Each plant turns into a ~12-14” mound of flowers with 10-20 blooms per plant. One caution...new, spring time flowers look like the pics...very pretty pink with a little white, however they mature to an off-white color with just a touch of pink. I wasn’t expecting that color change. Will probably continue to plant for many seasons, but will adjust neighboring plants for better contrast.

These zinnias have done well growing in first very wet conditions, then in very hot and dry conditions. They are looking a little ragged now in September, but we're still having unusually hot and very dry weather. The most curious thing about these Raspberry Ripple zinnias is that they are predominantly pink -- or predominantly white. The blooms can't seem to decide which color they will be -- pink or white. Some bloom white, then turn pink, then back to white as they age; some bloom pink, then fade to white. Each plant is filled with different colored blooms. I selected this variety for the pink color, so I'm not sure I'm wild about all that white.

I bought Zahara Raspberry Ripple Zinnia in a nursery. It is the most incredible annual I have ever had. I plan on buying seeds for this plant from Parkseed this coming year. I was so happy to see they sell it.

More cream than raspberry 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

Plants are VERY compact, Of the 125 seeds I started inside about 110 germinated which was very satisfactory, but ultimately the majority of blooms are a creamy white with a little red striping. Of them all, only ONE plant had all raspberry colored blooms. Very disappointing. .

These are one of the best zinnias for beds. The flowers stand up to heat and they look fresh for such a long time. No mildew either. They are a nice, full mound.

These were very disappointing! They wilt in the heat every day. They are only about half the height they should be. The color is not very vivid and they fade to white as they age. I would not recommend these or grow them again. Grow Magellan zinnias instead.

I really appreciate Park's candid descriptions. In the catalog, it said "resistant to mildew....great in humid and rainy climates." The photo was so dazzling, I decided to give it a try. Germinated in about 2 days! All the plants are withstanding days on end of Florida rainstorms. Probably will be blooming in another week. I can't wait to see the actual flowers. So far, green as can be and no mildew. These little plants are incredibly strong!
