Description / Everleaf Emerald Towers Basil Seeds

Days to Maturity: 30 to 40 from transplant

Everleaf basil puts out everlasting blooms throughout the season. This brilliant, dark green, upright herb produces traditional Genovese flavored basil to create a delicious caprese salad, pizza topping, or chopped in fresh recipes.

Everleaf is a tidy, well-branched, columnar towering plant that sets huge harvests and is extremely late to flower, typically up to 3 months longer than most basil plants. Whether grown in-ground, in container gardens, or hydroponic, this basil is necessary for your garden.

Seeds germinated well and grew very tall in my Earthbox. Plenty of small leaves but the flavor was pretty muted compared to my Genovese. I probably won’t grow this again.

Thank you for your feedback! We’re sorry this basil didn’t meet your expectations. We have other basil varieties that might work better for your garden and hope you’ll give them a try!

The BEST basil I have ever grown (And I've grown at least 12 different types over the years). I planted 3 in a 5 gallon bucket near my tomato plants. They kept going until a hard frost late in October and didn't go to seed! I'll order these again this year, good germination and tasted great.

The Best Basil Plant Ever 2 people found this helpful

I absolutely LOVE this basil plant. I used to be able to buy it at my garden center, but they don't carry it any longer. I was thrilled to find the seeds on Park Seed. It's great for a patio pot; it has a pillar shape and grows about 2 feet tall, and NEVER goes to seed! I have basil until the first frost! Highly recommend it!!

My favorite basil 1 people found this helpful

I normally prefer to grow heirlooms but this basil is so great I make an exception. Tastes amazing and never seen it flower which means no cutting blooms or dealing with plants going bitter. Haven't gotten it to look as nice as this photo yet, but I am a new gardener and probably need to fertilize it more. This is my second year growing it and everyone I share it with loves it too.

True Basil Towers 1 people found this helpful

I've grown Emerald Tower basil several times and I am never disappointed with it. If you have a small space this type of basil is perfect because it grows upwards rather than outwards. Each stalk is packed with dark green leaves and cutting the tops off encourages more and more branching. The leaves are great for pesto.

The seeds I received grew into a small, round, mounding shape. Certainly not towers. Nothing wrong with the basil, I simple wanted a tall columnar type.

Awesome Grower 0 people found this helpful

Had no issues getting these started or keeping them growing. I interplanted three among my vegetable plants last year along with two other basil varieties and by far these performed the best. These did not go to seed until very late in the summer (had planted in early spring) and performed extremely well in the summer heat (Southern Louisiana). Despite many rounds of making big batches of pesto, these continued to get bigger and bigger. I won't need to make pesto again for another two years, but I still intend to plant one of these next spring for fresh basil.

Little Tall Guys With A Really Fantastic Taste 1 people found this helpful

I loved these. I started the first few in little pods and that was OK, but they were better served putting them into actual seed starting soil (just garden variety Home Depot stuff). I remain unimpressed by the pods. I planted a bit late for 6a, but they shot up anyway. I even planted another couple in mid-late July, just for the hell of it, and I was still harvesting basil into the beginning of October. Anyway, they look BEAUTIFUL standing tall in the sun. Taste is also out-of-this-world. During quarantine, we got really into making dough (pastas, breads, pizza dough, etc.) and we'd put Emerald Tower leaves on our pizzas...among the best pizza I've ever had. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this variety.

Probably stick with regular basis varities 2 people found this helpful

Pros: 1. It is basil 2. It does grow Cons: 1. Slowest growing basil ever! 2. Not the greatest basil flavor. This plant is interesting in that there is almost bo side branching, just vertical growth. It is soooooo slow. Indoors under artificial light or outdoors makes no difference in rate of growth...one speed, slow AF.
