Description / Golden Guardian Marigold Seeds

Tested successfully in Holland, Golden Guardian Marigold that packs a powerful punch—interplanted with vegetables (especially tomatoes), Golden Guardian Marigold is the most effective at killing harmful nematodes. With a 99% success rate over 3 months, Golden Guardian Marigold is even more effective than chemical pesticides. And the big, single-flowered golden-orange blooms are lovely.

Nematodes live in the soil, feeding on and damaging the roots of tomatoes and other young vegetables, resulting in reduced growth, yellowed and wilted plants, and poor yields. Marigolds have long been planted as a nematode repellent, but not until Golden Guardian Marigold has one been shown to actually be more effective at eliminating these pests than commercial pesticides. The natural way to grow beautiful blooms while protecting the vegetable crop, Golden Guardian Marigold belongs in every garden.

Sow direct in the garden when the soil has warmed, or start Golden Guardian Marigold Seeds indoors in late winter. Very easy to grow in full sun, Golden Guardian Marigold reaches 2 feet tall.

Packet consists of approx. 600 seeds

Golden Guardin Marigold- Natural Wonder-Working Beetle and Nematode Repeller 0 people found this helpful

I've grown these Park Seed Golden Guardian Marigolds for several years. I plant the seeds directly into the garden soil inside my 40x40x40ft. garden fence line here in south central Virginia. This year I planted them in early March and they're about a half inch tall as I write this on March 30th. By early to mid Summer they are covered with beautiful small golden blossoms. The entire plant exudes a pungent marigold fragrance. It repels beetles and nematodes perfectly. I alternate the marigolds with my tomatoes and green beans. These marigolds are tall, not the little ornamental variety, so I have to cage or stake mine later in the season. Hummingbirds, bees and butterflies love the blossoms. They last until frost. I've used these natural beetle/nematode repellent flowers for several years and I have not found even a single harmful beetle in my garden. Not one Japanese Beetle or Mexican Bean Beetle and no aphids All without the use of harmful chemicals. I highly recommend Golden Guardian Marigolds for your veggie garden.

Best Natural Pest Repellent 0 people found this helpful

I've planted Golden Guardian marigolds interspersed among my tomato plants for that last seven years. Not once during that time have i found a single aphid, bean beetle or any other harmful insect in my garden. Not a single Japanese beetle either. The marigold plants are care-free and grow abundantly. I've been a gardener for 50 years and this is my favorite discovery as far as pest/insect prevention is concerned. I challenge you to try them. Bees, hummingbirds and butterflies love them too.

I plant in every spot I do not have vegetables. Have my tomatoes in concrete wire cages with 6 in. of straw under plants and in cages. Beds are 3 x 30 ft., all area outside of cages are planted in these marigolds. Reasons; no weeds, shading roots of tomatoes. Later till in to fight root knot nematodes. Three other beds completely covered with these marigolds. No other plants of any type, not even weeds.Root knot nematodes will not feed on these .At about 3 ft. tall cut and till in to retard nematodes. Can plant tomatoes here next Summer.

A floriferous gem 0 people found this helpful

So free-flowering one hardly misses the double blooms of other species. A long-lasting variety. Does have a tendency to flop over, but this isn't much of a problem in late season, when most competing plants begin to fade. It took two successive frosts to finish off our Golden Guardians this year.

Just Grow Them 0 people found this helpful

You cannot possible screw these up. Throw them on the ground and water them...they will grow...and grow...and grow. I have had these in full sun, planted with my tomatoes and I have had them in part shade. It doesn't seem to matter. They grow quite tall and have never ending flowers on them all summer long. It's the end of September and they are still going strong. They were the first flower I had in my garden this year. The bees (large and small) love them. It is fascinating to see all the different visitors we have to these flowers.

Best beneficial insect enticer! 0 people found this helpful

Golden Guardian marigolds brought in every single specie of bees to our guardian. I interplanted them everywhere in our garden and we had the best tomatoes we have ever grown! A word of caution, these marigold plants stood over 2 feet tall with a profusion of flowers. I planted too many of them, Ha! The beneficial insect population loved these flowers. All our vegetables produced abundantly probably due to all the insects that Golden Guardian enticed into our garden. I will definitely plant these again
