Poor germination 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I am writing this review based only on germination of the seeds that I received and before I put the plants in garden. I planted the seeds in a domed flat with soil-less potting mixture on a seedling heat mat. I was disappointed that only 50% of the seeds germination. Under these ideal conditions, I would have expected better.

    Response from store

Thank you for taking the time to share your early experience with our Jackpot Gold™ Melampodium Seeds. We’re sorry to hear that your germination rate wasn’t as high as expected—especially with the careful setup you described. That kind of attention deserves a better outcome.

We’ll be reaching out to you directly via email to follow up and make this right.

In the meantime, just a quick tip: melampodium seeds actually germinate best without bottom heat and at slightly cooler room temperatures (around 65–70°F). They also benefit from light exposure during germination, so sowing them on the surface or with only a light dusting of soil is ideal. It’s one of those varieties that prefers a gentle, spring-like start, which can be easy to miss when using heat mats.

We truly appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to support your garden success!
