Description / Las Vegas Purple Gomphrena Seeds

No sunny annual bed is complete without Globe Amaranth, and you'll love the brilliant plum coloring, abundant blooms, and superior heat tolerance of Las Vegas Purple. Butterflies and hummingbirds flock to these big, full flowers bobbing atop slender stems, and you will adore cutting the stems for fresh and dried bouquets. Easy and so delightful, Las Vegas Purple will surely become one of your favorites.

These flowers are very full, packed with florets of rich, inky plum-purple interspersed with the occasional touch of creamy white. They last a long time, look great in the sunny garden, and keep coming all summer long.

Expect Las Vegas Purple to reach about 18 inches high and to spread 18 to 24 inches wide in the garden. Though very versatile when it comes to soil type, this Globe Amaranth needs good drainage, and does best in reasonably fertile garden soil or potting mix. (It is a lovely container choice.) Plant it among your marigolds and petunias, Angelonias and Celosias, for a nice contrast in shape and texture. Perfect for large drifts in the meadow garden, too.

One of the best things about Gomphrena is its quickness. You'll go from sowing to seeing blooms in less than 3 months in most cases, and few seeds are easier. Add Las Vegas Purple to your annuals list today.

A robust little plant that grows so fast. Started in Biodome with 100% germination. Repotted and getting ready for spring planting. Might be blooming by the time it’s safe to plant. Excited to see it among the celosia and petunias this summer.

Care-free color that lasts! 0 people found this helpful

Gomphrena isn't the most well-known plant but it should be due to it being such a low-maintenance, long bloomer that thrives with very little help from it's caregiver. If you become a lazy gardener when it gets too hot like I do ,you won't have to worry because the show doesn't stop with Las Vegas Purple. The purple color is brilliant as well. Looks great planted with zinnias or marigolds.
