Description / Parade Green Onion Seeds

Days to Maturity: 60 days

Forget those limp, overpriced green onions at the supermarket -- you can grow your own in just 2 months from seed, practically any time of year! Parade is a very heavy-yielding, attractive, super-healthy green onion, with a crisp bite you'll find yourself craving!

This onion redefines "vigor." From a single planting you'll get plenty of straight, waxy, picture-perfect dark green stems. Pick them when they're about a foot to 16 inches tall for best flavor. Parade is very tolerant of bulbing, so you needn't rush to harvest it at once, but successive plantings every 2 weeks work best.

Like most onions, Parade thrives in normal to sandy soil exposed to full sun. Keep the soil well-drained and moist. If you live in a warm climate, spring, fall, and possibly even winter are your best crop times; farther north, you can enjoy onions all summer long! No kitchen garden should be without this charmer, so grow Parade this season and see what all the flap is about!

Love these onions. They keep on producing. 0 people found this helpful

I grow almost all of our veggies and herbs in our basement under LED lights, and decided to try the Parade onions. I started some of them in a large bussing tub. It took a bit for them to get going, but once they did, they just kept going. I transplanted a couple clumps of them into 7 gallon pots. They keep spreading and producing new plants. I don't pull the plants, but cut them down to about 3" and for onion at the bottom and leaves above the onion growth. By harvesting with this method, there is a constant supply of these onions. When I harvest them, I wrap the bottoms of the cuttings with a wet paper towel, and put them in a gallon baggies with one at the bottom and one at the top. I roll the baggies, top and bottom, to get the air out and seal the baggies as I go. Using this method, the harvested onions will last 3-4 weeks. The onions and tops are great sliced in salads, used as a topping for nachos, added to egg dishes, chopped as a garnish for soups, and so much more. By keeping them handy in the refrigerator, I find I tend to use them more often.

I am a very new gardener (2022). I have planted these both years and they are so easy. Very little maintenance and very good givers to this novice. They taste good and freeze well chopped up. Zone 7.

Very Pleased 0 people found this helpful

The parade green onions have produced very well in the garden. I do not suggest transplanting. They due better in the same soil from beginning to end. We suggest trying to separate them more due to how large they are able to grow. The packaging protects any unused seeds from sunlight due to the reflective material. Overall, I am satisfied.

great scallions 2 people found this helpful

    Rating

These never form a bulb which is desirable for scallions. I start mine indoors in 6 paks with 5 to 10 seeds in each cell depending on the size of the 6 pak, I then just plant each cell outside when ready. They can be planted relatively close together. When ready to harvest either pick individual scallions or a bunch. They will last the entire summer and here in zone 6 I overwinter (with mulch) and eat anytime the ground is not froze.
