Description / Park's Whopper Jalapeño Pepper Seeds

Days to Maturity: 72 from transplant

Meet the newest Whopper—a highly productive, easy to grow, absolutely delicious Jalapeño that stands up to just about any disease Mother Nature can throw its way. If you like hot peppers, or if you just want a great natural pest repellant in the garden, Park's Whopper Jalapeño is the one to grow.

This is the pungent little dark green pepper found in rings atop nachos and chopped in Mexican sauces. Very popular fresh, canned, or pickled, it livens up any dish.

Weighing in at 1.8 to 2.6 ounce each, these peppers pack 2100 to 2500 Scovilles of heat. You will love them straight from the vine as well as prepared in a variety of ways. Best of all, the plants are highly resistant to most pepper diseases, especially potato virus UY, tomato etch virus, canker stem, and root rot (Phytophthera). You can't go wrong with a Whopper.

Start seeds indoors or, in climate with short growing seasons, outdoors at least one week after last frost. If starting indoors, allow 7 to 10 weeks for the seeds to mature into seedlings large enough to transplant safely. Fertilize when the blooms appear, and water well. Fruit is most nutritious if allowed to ripen on the plant.

Big Yields, Big Flavor 1 people found this helpful

Grew 2 plants from seed in raised beds last year in Arkansas, zone 7B. These plants produced large fruit with gorgeous coloring. 2 plants produced more than enough peppers for 3 people with some extra to give away. Their heat level was medium to mild, which I thought was nice for a wide variety of culinary uses. Had no trouble with disease, and these plants attracted beneficial Wheel bugs that lived in them all summer. This Park's Whopper jalapeno is my new favorite hot pepper variety, which I will grow again this year.

I'm very new to growing my own garden and I love jalapeños and decided to give these a try and I have to say 10/10 rating, I planted all 15 seeds I got and let's be honest there were more than 15 in my package, but they all sprouted, every single 1, im super impressed and will continue to buy my seeds from here. Thank you.

My husband and I love these jalapeños, they are the hottest and biggest jalapeños we’ve ever planted. Lots of peppers making a very nice yield per plant.

Excellent! 2 people found this helpful

I started a package of the seeds in my solarium in late February and set them out in late March. They have really outdone themselves and are still going strong now in early August. I have canned whole ones, sliced ones, and many jars of jalapeno jelly. I have also put up tomatoes with jalapenos. They seemed stressed when the rain quit and the daily temperatures started going over 100 every day for weeks. I rigged up a makeshift frame and put 40% shade cloth over them. With that and frequent watering, they have continued to produce well. I will definitely plant them again next year.
