Alcea Double Pink is a classic hollyhock that grows to an impressive height of 4 to 8 feet, blooming beautifully from mid to late summer. Its towering spires are brimming with large, frilly double blooms in soft pink hues that draw in pollinators, like butterflies and hummingbirds. These versatile flowers are just as lovely in the garden as they are in floral arrangements.
A variety of Alcea rosea, commonly called hollyhock, Double Pink is a hardy perennial for Zones 2-8. While typically biennial, it self-seeds, ensuring years of gorgeous flowers. Perfect for cottage gardens and butterfly gardens, it also creates stunning vertical accents or serves as a lush, natural garden divider.
Double Pink hollyhock prefers sunny spots with average, moist, well-drained soil but is adaptable to light shade and diverse soil conditions. To keep the roots cool and moist, apply a layer of mulch. Naturally resistant to deer, this hollyhock is a low-maintenance favorite.
To plant Double Pink hollyhock, soak the roots for an hour before placing them in the ground. Position the taproot downward, planting roots 2 to 3 inches deep and spacing them 24 to 36 inches apart.
