Description / Queeny Lime Red Zinnia Seeds

A color blend like no other in the garden (except possibly Coleus foliage), Queeny Lime Red is the zinnia of the season, the one we get daily calls and emails about. It's just so amazing—the petals shade from deep maroon at the base to fresh lime-green around the central cone, with shades of antique rose, vintage pink, and soft chartreuse in between. What's more, the flowers are fully double, very freely borne, and long-lasting in the garden or as cuts. In other words, Queeny Lime Red has it all.

This plant is a tall, well-branched, bushy zinnia, great for the sunny bed and outstanding in large containers. Expect it to reach 27 to 31 inches high and about 2 feet wide, filled with flowering stems from the first hint of summer weather until the last (even if that last is in October). Like all zinnia, it's super easy to grow, either when started indoors or direct sown into the warm spring soil. Give it plenty of sunshine, well-drained soil, and the occasional feed to keep it blooming like crazy all summer.

The flowers measure 2 to 4 inches wide, arising at the tips of very long, sturdy stems that make them great cuts for the vase. Most will be fully double, absolutely pompon-shaped and packed with tight rows of petals. The occasional outlier will be single, and a few will be semi-double. You may get one or two rebels who insist upon being solid maroon, with no trace of green, but the vast majority will be fully double maroon-to-lime flowers that attract butterflies, bees, and gasps of disbelief from all your friends.

The Queeny series has a solid green variety as well, which makes a perfect companion to Lime Red. Beyond this, though, Lime Red is its own companion, since every bloom is just a bit different and most gardeners agree that they simply can't get enough of them in their beds, borders, and cutting gardens. Enjoy this fabulous new look for the friendliest flower of summer.

Pretty, but…. 1 people found this helpful

I was disappointed that only 3 of these seeds came up. I planted other varieties of zinnias at the same time and lots came up. The plants are strong and a pretty pink but don’t look like the picture at all. No lime color at all or the muted pink I had hoped for. The flowers are very domed shaped.

Muted color 0 people found this helpful

Theses were easy to grow and are at least 4-5 feet tall. A lot of blooms but they have varied in size from 1 inch to 3 inches in diameter. The color is very muted and faded looking. I do like the progression of the colors and shapes the blooms go through as they age though. This was my first summer growing zinnia and I am a big fan now but will go for the more eye a thing colored ones next year.

These are pretty but the color is not as pictures. It's more of a faded mixed color - sections are not distinct seperate colors. Easy to grow though and many blooms so far.

QueenyLime Red Zinnia 3 people found this helpful

I bought seeds last year from Park Seeds. The drought in my part of Texas hit my plants hard. But the Queen Lime Red Zinnia was outstanding. Just picked my last zinnia last week…a week before Thanksgiving. The color variation is mesmerizing. The paleness of the colors is haunting. I love them!

Horrible color 1 people found this helpful

    Rating

Color is nothing like any marketing photo on any website nor on any seed package. If you like zinnia for their cheerful vibrancy like I do, you will be so dissatisfied by this one. The “red” is a dull dark brown burgundy and the “lime” is a dull brownish gold/hardly green. Horrible unless you are doing a gothic death garden. I feel bad for these flowers and irritated that I wasted my time and effort to grow them. Major marketing scam with the photo retouching. Plants are sturdy as all zinnias are. Too bad I don’t enjoy them.

I saw the images of these zinnias and just had to try them. So far, I am very disappointed with the blossoms. They look nothing like the catalog pictures. The color of the Lime/Red is actually the ugliest color of zinnia I have ever grown - like a dull bruise. I also grew 2 Zinderella purple which are bright but the flowers are small with few petals. The germination rate for these was very low = only 6 of 32 seeds planted had success. I’m hoping that as the plants mature the flowers will improve?

Terrible Color 1 people found this helpful

    Rating

I am so disappointed in the color of these. I expected them to be subtle like the picture, but they just look terrible and aged (not in a pretty retro way). Like you left something beautiful out in the sun to fade and get dirty. I wish I could post a photo. I was looking forward to vases of cut flowers but these are just a big ol' no.

Loved this zinnia.....received as a gift from a friend with several other Park Seed packets. Fit so nicely in my cabin garden. I don’t go for a lot of bright showy flowers, I like more calming colors and this one was perfect!

On their own they are pretty but are dull planted near brighter flowers 0 people found this helpful

Grew fine and as stated in description but when planted among brightly colored flowers they appear quite dull. I paired them with Green Envy zinnias and they look okay but in truth the Envy's outshine them. I expect that if planted with other more muted colored flowers they would look fine but not so much in my very colorful/bright garden.

Likes, several blooms, not much watering needed. Not too tall and not too short :) Dislike: Color is low key, not deep color- more like a faded color.

These germinated well for me. They're holding up against harsh heat too The blimp size is smaller than expected. Overall I would purchase again.

Acceptable germination rate, colors are actually boring 1 people found this helpful

    Rating

Had no problem germinating these and getting them established in the garden. Thought they'd look nice paired with Green/Envy Zinnia but am disappointed in how they look overall as the colors are very muted/dull. They are "unusual" no doubt but if you want bright colorful summer flowers these will not do
