92 days. By far the most popular white Regular Sweet variety, Silver Queen earns her fame with superior production and unbelievably mouth-watering flavor. These gigantic 8-foot stalks yield a great bounty of 8- to 9-inch ears, each stuffed with crisp, tender, sweet white kernels arrayed in 14 to 16 jam-packed rows. Resistance to Bacterial Wilt means even bigger harvests! If you like Silver Queen, try Silver King (a slightly larger white that matures 10 days sooner) and yellow-kernelled Golden Queen -- the Royal Family of sweet corn!

Less fussy about warm soil and heavy feeding than Super Sweet hybrids, Regular Sweet corn should be planted at least 400 feet from Super Sweets (they tend to reduce the flavor of Super Sweets if cross-pollinated). If this is not possible, sow the two types at least a month apart.

Sow after last spring frost, when the soil is warm. Corn is famously easy to direct-sow in any sunny spot. To extend your corn harvest, make successive plantings weekly up to mid-July, or plant varieties with differing maturity dates. Pkt is 200 seeds. Corn seed in packet sizes of 1 lb. or smaller is now available for shipment to Canada.

    Overpriced for 25% germination rate 0 people found this helpful

    I followed the directions on the package and ended up with a 25% germination rate. Just as an experiment, I planted some 3 year old silver queen seeds I had bought from an out-of-business feed and seed store (Gramlings, Tallahassee) and it sprouted nearly 100%. Park seed silver queen is really weak

    Neighbor and I planted 2 packs of Silver Queen Corn, wanted to order additional to plant a few weeks later so hopefully have through more of the summer. Enjoyed Silver Queen most of my life however no one seems to be growing it now in this area so that motivated me to try and grown our own.

    I live in Southern Washington and the weather can be pretty volatile in the Spring. This year, we have been blessed with a nice early warm spring. I planted ONE Silver Queen in my Bio-Dome in Mid February and the rest I started in the Greenhouse. I transplanted the Bio-Dome to my raised bed in early April. The attached photo (the first one) was taken on April 28th. If "Knee High By The 4th Of July" is true for a successful planting....Then I have NO Problem! The second Photo shows the Garden 14 Days later. This morning I transplanted several more plants from the Greenhouse and sowed about 17 more seed....This will fill out the entire bed, with a total of 60 plants....That may be too many, but time will tell.
