This small, versatile tomato is reminiscent of a Roma with its elongated shape and deep red coloring, but not in size, because it's a mini, just 2 inches long and 1 inch wide. So, if you're tired of plain globe-type tomatoes or looking for a tomato that cooks up well into a sauce, then the Marzito is the tomato for you.

There's nothing better in the summer than a homegrown tomato. And the flesh of these tomatoes is meaty and sweet. They are delicious straight off the vine. So, don't be surprised if your Marzitos don't make it into the house after picking.

Marzito tomatoes are climbing tomatoes. You'll need to plant them in the ground and provide them with a sturdy cage or trellis to support their growth. Seeds germinate quickly, in as little as 2 to 3 days after sowing. Start seeds indoors and transplant outside after threat of frost has passed. The plant has at least two sets of true leaves. It is hardy and highly disease resistant.

If you plan to start your seeds indoors, be sure to check out our Bio Dome Seed Starter Kit. With the Bio Dome, you can control the temperature, light, and soil mix to ensure your seeds become strong for transplant.

I bought these because I thought the shape of them was unique. I've got 6 or 7 other varieties of tomatoes growing and none of them have produced fruit yet. Lots of flowers. But this one has so many tomatoes on it already. I grow mainly indoors under grow lights so they probably get a little bit bigger if you grow them outside. I've already got more seeds started so I can keep these growing on a regular basis. Definitely taste good on its own and once more ripen, I think roasting them will be amazing.

Amazing Harvest 1 people found this helpful

This was my first year growing vine tomatoes and the yields were amazing. I used the tall rectangular wire cages made for vines. It saved a lot of space. The bush tomatoes used to always take over the whole garden. The cates are worth the investment and are sturdy and don't rust. They were slow to take off after transplanting outside, but grew like crazy when it got hot. I used organic fertilizer and three times and did not even water them very often. I think the most important things is to pull the weeds so they don't steal the nutrients from the soil. I got more tomatoes then I can give away.
