Louisiana Planting Zones & Schedule

Louisiana’s USDA growing zones range from Zone 8a in the north to Zone 10a along the southern coast. Northern parts of the state, including areas near Shreveport and Monroe, experience slightly cooler winters, fitting within Zones 8a and 8b.

Further south, especially near Baton Rouge and New Orleans, the climate becomes subtropical, falling into Zones 9a through 10a. These warm conditions allow gardeners to grow heat-loving crops such as okra, peppers, eggplant, and tomatoes nearly year-round.
