Minnesota Planting Zones & Schedule

Minnesota’s USDA growing zones range from Zone 3 to Zone 5. The northern third of the state is in Zone 3 while Zone 4a covers a large portion of central Minnesota, including areas around Grand Rapids and Duluth. 

Things warm up a little as you move south of Cambridge, with the lower third of the state falling in Zones 4b and 5a. The climate in Minnesota is best suited for cool-season crops as well as cold-hardy vegetables like beets, carrots, and leafy greens.
