North Dakota Planting Zones & Schedule

North Dakota’s USDA growing zones range from Zone 3 to Zone 4, depending on where you are in the state. Areas along the northern border, like Bottineau and Cavalier counties, are in Zone 3b while parts of southern North Dakota, like Bowman and Jamestown, are in Zone 4b.

Most of the state falls in Zone 4a which is best suited to cool-season crops like leafy greens, brassicas, and root vegetables.
