Oh, look at what's happened to this trusty native American wildflower! Moon Dust™ Yarrow has taken Yarrow from a big, floppy plant to a compact, large-flowered, gleaming presence in garden or container! And all of its merits have come with it: butterflies and bees, superior tolerance of heat, humidity, and poor soil, and even drought!
Moon Dust™ Yarrow perfectly combines creamy pale yellow blooms, flat-topped and profuse, with silvery green foliage. The flowers form a parasol above the leaves, just right for pollinators to light upon and sip nectar! The foliage, when it's visible, casts silvery glints when the sun catches it. And the flowers begin in early summer and go strong right into autumn!
Every gardener knows how dependable Yarrow is, but we don't always remember that it's a valuable neighbor for so many of our other garden treasures, too. In addition to butterflies and bees, Moon Dust™ Yarrow calls in ladybugs, wasps, and other "good bugs" that gobble up the destructive insects just waiting to tear into our garden. Dot Moon Dust™ Yarrow around the vegetable patch as well as the perennial border -- it will help all your edibles grow, and it will make that part of the garden even more beautiful!
Of course, in the sunny border of meadow garden, Moon Dust™ Yarrow is a happy companion to other native perennials from Black-eyed Susan to Coneflower. Because this variety is quite short (just 12 to 14 inches high and wide!), it can show off in the front of the border, instead of crouching behind shorter plants! In the past, Yarrows have gotten so big and rangy with their top-heavy blooms that they need support -- but not Moon Dust™ Yarrow!
Give this lovely perennial well-drained soil of good fertility. Pamper it the first season, and then let it go. You will find it marvelously self-sufficient, and the entire garden will be a better place for its presence! Zones 5-8.
