Description / Best Mix Strawflower Seeds

What a dilemma -- these Paper Daisies are so gorgeous in bloom that you may want to let them dazzle the summer garden, yet if you cut them in bud they make fabulous dried arrangements that last for months! Luckily, the problem is solved by these floriferous 2-foot plants, which generously give you enough blooms for garden, vase, and Everlasting use!

Fully 2 inches across and jammed with thin, strawlike petals just drenched with color, these blooms begin in early summer and keep coming until fall on vigorous 2-foot plants. Appearing above the gray-green foliage, they are held upright on strong stems. And the colors! Salmon, apricot, pink, rose, magenta, white, and cream -- all with merry yellow centers -- give you enough variety to supply cool- or warm-toned bouquets.

To dry as Everlastings, cut the flowers before they are fully open, remove any foliage, and hang the branch upside-down in a dry, well-ventilated location. Pkt is 100 seeds.

I saw a photo of these pretty flowers and decided to try my hand at growing them this summer. I started them inside late winter in peat pots and set them out in spring. After several weeks they started to bloom. They are so pretty and I love their straw-like texture. The flowers will close at night and if they get wet. I hadn't read this in the seed description. Having fallen in love with these flowers, I read on another site that they may be a tender perennial in my area. I hope so as they are my new favorite. I have mine growing in full sun and some in part sun. I would recommend this seed if you are looking for something different in your flower bed, but I would also recommend growing them en masse as blooms are fairly dainty and they make a better presentation in a group.
