Big Duck™ Yellow, a natural semi-dwarf F1 marigold, is an annual offering summer through fall interest, blooming up to the first frost. Highly floriferous, Big Duck™ Yellow produces more flowers for longer than most marigolds. Borne singly or in clusters on sturdy stems, the 4-inch, bright yellow, fully double blooms attract butterflies and hummingbirds. The flowers last a long time in the garden or vase and can be dried for everlasting arrangements.
A Tagetes erecta, commonly called African marigold, Aztec marigold, American marigold, or big marigold, Big Duck™ Yellow has a uniform, compact, bushy habit with a carpet-like spread and a vigorous growth rate. Shown to best effect when mass planted, Big Duck™ Yellow is perfect for landscapes, beds, and borders and makes a great filler for container gardens and large plantings.
Easy to grow, Big Duck™ Yellow is low maintenance. The plant prefers full sun and average, evenly moist, well-drained soil. It holds up to rain and is high heat and drought tolerant, generally pest and disease free, and deer resistant. Deadheading is not required but removing spent blooms regularly encourages and prolongs flowering, and pinching off the tops of established plants results in bushier plants with a heavier bloom.
Direct sow marigold seed after the last frost as soon as the soil is warm in spring or start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost and transplant after all threat of frost has passed.

These beauties are fabulous! 3 people found this helpfulThese are the most outstanding marigolds I've ever grown! They have large plump blooms that last a long time (several weeks). They are tough enough to stand up to Georgia summer, yet delicate and fluffy. They are beauties!

Big Duck 0 people found this helpfulI absolutely love marigolds. Many years ago I had huge blooms around my home and everyone commented on them. I bought these Big Duck seeds in hopes of recreating. I received the seeds in the mail and planted them inside in a seed started box. Within 3 days they had popped up and at this point they each have two little leaves. I so excited so far with their progress. I can't wait to get them outside in my garden boxes! And see the blooms!

Beautiful and Big 0 people found this helpfulI started these inside and planted in my raised beds. They were Gorgeous.......Big, lemony yellow flowers on big plants. Mine got much bigger than the 13" it says on here......they were at least 2 feet and bloomed all summer into the fall. I highly recommend, but allow for a bit extra room. I will be planting these again.

Died off when 3" tall 0 people found this helpfulI bought these marigold seeds to go with my yellow, orange and pink theme. The orange Janie's did great, planted in the same seed flat as these yellow Ducks. When about 3" tall, every one of them weaseled up and died. Same seed tray, inside same greenhouse with same amount of water. Not recommended.
